Growing up, I was fortunate to be part of a family who meditated every morning. Our world revolved around the spiritual. Both my mothers and my father side of the family. I did not know what they were doing, but as a child, I was in my own world at the time anyway, so I was perhaps sharing similar space with them. The magic of life was always there. I could see it and I could feel it in the beauty of nature and music. I could travel to higher places when immersed in the beauty of life. Healing to me is entering into that sacred space. The openness of the heart and the expansion of self.
To me, this is what life is about, to see the light amidst the mundane and the dark.
I've been volunteering my time as a reiki practitioner at St. Charles Hospital here in Bend. I work with cancer patients. Some come in very stressed, about to receive chemotherapy, radiation or surgery. More than not, people come away from their sessions and feeling as if they are floating and at a very peaceful state. Sometimes it's a bit difficult to get off the table. I found if people fall asleep during a session that it is so good, because they have taken themselves and their mind out of the equation and their body and spirit are able to receive more. Being in the state of peace is what we all need and seek. I love helping facilitate that peace in others. I feel it myself too, so everyone benefits. Everyone receives. Even those you interact with after a session. The energy and light continues on and allows others to feel that beauty and magic that children often feel.
